Netflix and Warner Bros Ink Movie Deal

Netflix’s instant movie streaming feature, which allows the user to instantly stream newly released movies directly to your TV via WIFI has been taking a toll on Warner Bros movie sales.  Why buy the movie when you can stream it instantly to your TV as many times as you want?

In a groundbreaking deal on Jan. 6 Netlfix and Warner Brothers settled disputes over movie licensing issues. The compromise allows Netflix streaming acces to more of Warner Bros movies including old favorites such as “All the Presidents Men” and “Caddyshack”.  In return, Netflix must wait 28 days before they allow new releases to be streamed.  This hopefully will boost Warner Bros new release sales as well as Netflix memberships.  This deal may in fact set a benchmark for future digital media rights as the medium for entertainment begins to shift away from hardcopies and towards digital files.

FLO TV

We have all been there. You are sitting in the backseat of a car going somewhere when you just realized your favorite show is on TV right now and you are missing it.
"Dad, you did set the DVR to record Burn Notice didn't you?"
	"What's that?"
"Did you set the DVR to record my show?"
	"No, I forgot."
Well now Qualcomm has the answer for this problem.
It is called to Flo TV and it is a small touch-screen device much like an iPhone that streams cable TV programming wirelessly on the go. It is a very handy device with instant access and an at a glance programming guide that makes flipping channels easy. The service is designed to be used night and day with live TV, as well as simmulcast and time-shifted programming. It also is used to watch FULL episodes of shows and not simply 30 second to 1 minute long clips. The device has 5 hours of battery life in viewing time and 300 hours of standby time. The device includes 4G's of memory for onboard music storage.
Flo TV can also be streamed to your Verizon Wireless or AT&T phone and the service starts at $9 a month but when you by the mobile unit, the service is free for the first 6 months. The unit, however, has a very steep price at $250. This device is certainly useful but it is still unknown whether it will sell or not. The true test will be if it does well this holiday season.

Skillet Is Anything But Sleepy

Skillet’s Awake CD may be the most sought after stocking stuffer this holiday season. With such songs as “Monster” and the title song, “Awake and Alive,” this album is sure to stay in your stereo for weeks on end. Although it is the band’s eighth album, it is generating this Christian rock band the most attention to date. Although there are heavier songs such as “It’s Not Me, It’s You,” and “Monster,” there are ballads like “Don’t Wake Me” to keep the listener wondering what’s coming at them next.

Since Skillet is a Christian band, you can rest assured that this alum is appropriate for the entire family, except for maybe younger kids since Skillet’s style is in-your-face.

On a scale of zero to five music notes, I would give this compilation of wild songs a solid four and a half.
