About
I. Audience
The primary audience for The Rider Chronicle and theriderchronicle.com is the student body, students’ parent and faculty at Rider High School. Material may not necessarily reflect the views, the opinions or the concerns of the faculty, administration or the school board, but material will reflect the interest of the student body.
The staff recognizes that the material is also read by faculty and administrators, as well as the community as a whole, and the students from other high schools across the country. Consequently, material will not always involve school news, but it will be localized to student concerns. Accordingly, The Chronicle recognizes and encourages criticism from these parties. The first order of business for anyone wishing to voice a concern is to write a letter. The next step for those with complaints or comments is to request a meeting with the editor-in-chief, the editorial board and the publication’s adviser. A meeting will be made with certainty within at least a week of the request being received (except during summer break).
II. Who We Are:
The Chronicle and theriderchronicle.com are two of the student publications produced by the Rider High School media team. Content is completely student generated through the efforts and decisions of the editorial board and staff. The publications are designed to serve both the school and the city of Wichita Falls, and intended to provide staff members with opportunities for independent research, organizational growth and motivational planning as well as writing development.
Through its practice and first amendment mission, the publication constitutes a free forum for writers, columnists, media team members, faculty members and community members. The staff pays for both publications’ printing and online publication as well as production costs entirely through advertising, fund-raising projects and subscriptions.
III. Purpose
The intent of both publications is to educate, inform, entertain and present issues in a professional manner in order to expose the student body and community members to accurately researched and thoroughly written articles, features, opinion pieces, public-interest pieces, video projects, podcasts and other convergent media projects.
The staff invites critical thought and progressive decision making on an individual level. Through classroom experience, students will learn journalistic principles and apply them to the publications.
IV. Advertising
The Chronicle and theriderchronicle.com are only able to publish through advertising revenue brought in by ad sales. Currently, because our online publication is a new venture, advertisers who publish in The Chronicle automatically qualify for an ad on theriderchronicle.com. That will in all likelihood change as time goes by.
Advertising prices start at $40 for a business card sized ad, $70 for a 1/4 page ad, $125 for a 1/2 page ad and $200 for a full-page ad.
