New Raiderette coach Regan Stanton

Q/A with new dance coach Regan Stanton

August 20, 2021

Rider has been dancing for quite some time now, but there’s a new face leading the dance program.

The Rider Chronicle sat down with Regan Stanton, Rider’s new Raiderette dance coach, to discuss discussing her passion for dancing and her expectations for new students during the school year.

Q: Where did you learn how to dance?

A: I started at a studio in my hometown when I was in the 8th grade, then I joined the dance team in high school which is where I learned most things until I went off to college to study it for the last four years while I was at Texas State University.

Q: What high school did you go to?

A: I’m from San Antonio and I went to Judson High School.

Q: Did learning how to dance make you feel passionate about dancing?

A: Very much so, when I was in high school I was actually an officer for two years. Which is where I got my passion for teaching dance, rather than just doing dance myself.

Q: What made you want to teach dancing?

A: I had a really great director, I think she really inspired me to want to be a good director.

Q: Do you know if you inspired anyone to become a professional dancer?

A: I definitely feel like some students gain that passion, but the majority of them at least leave my class with an appreciation for dance even as an art form even if they don’t decide to pursue dance in their future.

Q: How do you like Wichita Falls so far?

A: I love it here, I wasn’t too sure what to expect when I got here, but I think it’s a big little town.

Q: What are your expectations for the school year?

A: I’m expecting to have a great year. I think that we’re going to be really involved and they’re going to get themselves involved in a lot more than they’re used to. I hope that it brings a lot of attention to it and draws kids to join the program.

I do think this is a really interesting way to get to know our new staff and introduce them to our high school. Great questions at the same time very simple, very well.
